Portuguese Journey to Lisbon

Gather at your local airport where you will board your overnight flight to Lisbon.

Meals: Multiple in flight meals

You have arrived in The City of Seven Hills! After transferring from the airport, drive along the Tagus River to the Belém section of Lisbon. Here, you will be able to see and explore famous sites such as the Torre de Belém, the Jerónimos Monastery and Jardim Vasco da Gama. Belém is also where you can find the famous and delicious Pastéis de Nata. After lunch and free time to explore get to know your teammates on the court with some practice time. Later, travel south to the seaside town of Sesimbra to check into your hotel and enjoy a team welcome dinner to wrap up your first day.

Bom dia! Kick off your first full day in Portugal with a scavenger hunt through Sesimbra, requiring you to interact with locals known for their fishing. Afterward, enjoy lunch at on of the famous fish restaurants along the beach. You can even have the option of visiting the fishing docks to watch a fishing auction. After enjoying lunch, drive along the cliffs of Arrábida Natural Park towards the port in Setúbal to Dolphin Bay for an afternoon and evening boat cruise, including diving, a stunning sunset and dinner.

After breakfast this morning, head back to Setúbal, where this time you will explore its covered market, Mercado do Livramento, referred to as one of the best fish markets in the world, and its fortress, São Filipe, dating back to the 1500’s and offering incredible views of the city below. After a typical local lunch, drive north to Caparica, where it is time to test your surfing skills, or if you prefer, time to relax on the beach. This evening play your first game of the tour before returning for our last night in Sesimbra.

Enjoy your final seaside wake up this morning and drive north to Lisbon where you will meet some of the local youth of Atletico Clube de Moscavide to conduct a clinic. After lunch, gather for your walking tour of this wonderful UNESCO World Heritage City with its hills and many different neighborhoods. Don’t worry it is mostly downhill. Following check-in at the hotel play your second game of the tour.

This morning after breakfast make your way to the westernmost point of continental Europe, Cape Rock. It’s famous lighthouse sits on the cliffs edge and makes for some incredible views. The take the winding coastal road to the town of Cascais, one of the premier holiday destinations of the Portuguese Riviera. Enjoy some free time to explore Cascais and enjoy dinner at one of their excellent restaurants before returning to your hotel.

This morning travel north to Peniche and its beautiful harbor and fort along a distinct peninsula that formed back in the jurassic period. After enjoying lunch in town, or the nearby Baleal, take the short drive to Óbidos. Óbidos is known as one of Europe’s best preserved medieval villages. After learning some of the history of the city and region return to Lisbon for the third and final game of your tour.

This morning make your way to Sintra Palace, Quinta da Regaleira, and its gardens to explore its incredible beauty. After your visit the rest of the day is free to explore Lisbon and for any last-minute shopping or sightseeing you may want to do. This would be a great time to use your tour managers to help you do anything you may have missed. In the evening, gather one last time together for a farewell dinner.

All good things must come to an end. After breakfast this morning, transfer to the airport and board your flight, returning you to the USA. Arrive home with many unforgettable memories!
